Feel free to take a photo with BRUTUS, our life size Hereford bull! Sit on a bench and relax a bit under our shady front porch. Enjoy our quaint small-town atmosphere and the rhythm of horse hooves, as Amish buggies saunter down Angelica's 1805 Main Street Historic District.
Our building was built in 1830 containing the original, unique steel vault from Angelica's first bank. If you look closely, you will see the outlines of three teller windows cut into the south-facing shiplap wall. Wide pine floor planks were harvested from local trees and cut at neighboring sawmills. Floor joists are full size logs with exterior walls constructed from 2" x 16" rough-cut boards throughout! For over a century, the Country Store was a hardware and implement store. It served the Shawmut & Pittsburgh railroads, grist and lumber mills, blacksmiths, and generations of hard-working farming families. Each room held different supplies including steel pipes & fittings, window glass, oil-based paints, household needs, livestock feeds, lumber and essential construction materials. The 100 ft. long, two story structure has been preserved throughout the years, with very few updates. |
